Seven Days Part 1
In Genesis Chapter 1 we are told that God made the heavens, the world and everything in them in six days.
It is my view that we take the Creation in Genesis, and the entire Bible, as literal fact. Are there parables, visions, metaphors and similes? Of course there are, but these are obvious for the most part. Therefore the entire timeline of history laid out in the Bible has to be taken both seriously and, in my opinion, literally in order to make perfect sense. Each person and creature spoken of in it, did exist and at the time the Bible says they existed.
And that includes Adam and Eve, the first man and woman.
Yes I believe that God created the world in a literal six days. I know there are some Christians out there and Biblical Scholars that accept the evolutionary theory put out there by science, and even though I do not agree with them, this Blog is not intended to be a debate between evolution and creationism. I am writing simply to put my view forward (backed up by scripture, of course,) and to maybe, just maybe, get even one person to think more about God’s love for the animals.
‘,,,let God be true, and every man a liar…’
Romans 3:4 (KJV)
‘Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.’
John 14:6 (KJV)
These two verses tell much about who God is and His nature. The first one tells us that it is only God who is true. There is nothing false about God. We can trust Him completely. He is never going to tell us an untruth. The bottom line is God cannot lie.
Ever.
It is man that lies. It is man that tells untruths. And it isn’t always on purpose or knowingly. It is simply our nature because of the Fall in Eden. So whilst Romans states that God is true, it also states that man is a liar. Any person’s word must not be trusted completely, and that includes my own.
I cannot trust myself wholeheartedly, and neither can you trust yourself. That is why I will ask you to always test what you hear by anyone against what God says in His word. Don’t be a one verse theologian either. Always study surrounding verses and the context of the Bible as a whole. Study deeper and deeper. Look at the Greek in the New Testament and the Hebrew in the Old Testament. This is a lifelong quest and God will constantly teach and refine you.
After that, pray about what you learn and be open to correction from the Holy Spirit. Prayer cannot be underestimated.
If you are reading and enjoying this Blog, I encourage you to pray about everything, as I continue to do whilst writing it.
Next time we will look at how God’s word is true relates to Jesus saying, He is the Way, the Truth and the Life.’
God Bless.
